Headlining the event, which goes down in Miami and airs on Dec. 4, will be hip-hop heavy hitters Lil Wayne and Birdman. Weezy and the Young Money boss are slated to perform 'Y.U. Mad,' the recorded version -- set to appear on Birdman's upcoming 'Bigga Than Life' album -- also features Nicki Minaj. Given that she's no sucker and would therefore be welcome at the ceremony, it's possible she'll drop by.
Holding down hosting duties will be longtime MTV personality and hip-hop aficionado Sway Calloway, while DJ Khaled will appear as "guest commentator," providing play-by-play on the night's seven categories -- listed below.
In a press release, Birdman thanked MTV for choosing Miami, the home base of his musical empire.
"MTV continues to be a huge supporter of all our artists from Wayne, Drake, Nicki, Khaled, Bow and myself as well as our rising stars such as [Lil] Twist, Tyga, and Lil Chuckee," he said. "We're appreciative of the channel's support as YMCMB continues to place its mark on this game."
