The birthday bash was DJ'd by Clinton Sparks and hosted Mary J. Blige and Usher, who presented the 'Motivation' hitmaker with a special gift, during their exclusive invite-only dinner at Vic & Angelo's South Beach restaurant.
"I have something very special to give Rico tonight, and I'm glad you're all here to share it with me," Usher announced, as he opened a black leather bag and handed his friend the Grammy he recently took home for his 2010 single 'There Goes My Baby,' which was co-produced and co-written by Love.
"This is one of many, but I just wanted to say how my successes are your successes. Without him [Love], I wouldn't have completed this journey, so I wanted to present this to you as a good friend," Usher announced to the cheering crowd of friends and collaborators. "This category of Best Male R&B Artist no longer exists, so I wanted to give you something memorable from my personal collection."
Following Usher's heartfelt dedication, '4 AM' singer Melanie Fiona, serenaded Love with a special rendition of 'Happy Birthday,' before he blew out the candles on his three-tier chocolate cake.
"I want to thank you all for being here with me on this special day," exclaimed Love. "I wouldn't have made it this far without each and every one of you."
