This afternoon (Dec. 16), en route to the location of the video set, trouble ensued. A source, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave The BoomBox some details about the tragic matter that took the rapper's life. "There was an altercation on the way to the shoot and Slim Dunkin was shot in the stomach," the source close to the situation reveals. "He succumbed to the injuries."
The news comes the afternoon before Gucci's scheduled homecoming celebration at an Atlanta nightspot. There has been speculation as to who's responsible for the murder, including whether or not the longstanding animosity between Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy's camps are to blame.
Just five months ago, 20-year-old Slim, born Mario Hamilton, and Waka Flocka Flame released their second joint mixtape, 'Twin Towers 2.' Dunkin was also featured on two tracks off Gucci and Waka's 'Ferrari Boyz' LP, and he also serves verses on 'F--- You,' on 'BAYTL.'
At the video shoot for 'Let's Get Faded' Thursday (Dec. 15), in Atlanta, Gucci gave information about upcoming singles and videos, which would feature the fallen rapper. "We're probably gonna do either three or four visuals for this album, including 'Push Ups,' that'll be the next video," he said. "It features Slim Dunkin. We're going to shoot that one tomorrow."
Industry insiders like French Montana and DJ Clue are already expressing their condolences for Slim Dunkin's family and friends on Twitter.
UPDATE: According to the New York Daily News, Atlanta Police Maj. Keith Meadows says Slim Dunkin was shot in the chest as a result of an altercation in a recording studio.
"It appears the victim was scheduled to do a photo shoot," Meadows stated. "Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation. We don't know what that altercation was about."
The murderer is still at-large.
