Bobby Brown Leaves Whitney Houston Funeral: Singer's Ex-Husband Explains Early Departure From Service

Speculation has run rampant as to why Bobby Brown chose to leave Whitney Houston's funeral this morning (February 18, 2012). To clear up the controversy, Bobby Brown has released the following statement to ETonline.

Whitney Houston's Funeral - The Tributes

"My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how."

It was unclear for much of this past week whether or not Brown would attend Whitney Houston's funeral, with some reports speculating that Houston's family did not want him there. Brown is scheduled to perform tonight at the Mohegan Sun casino in Uncasville, Conn.

We had a similar incident at the funeral of my husband. They had rows of chairs and the rows weren't long enough for the kids, and a grand child, and two boyfriends (of daughters). Almost became an "issue" because one boyfriend was around longer than the other. I finally asked if we could lengthen the row. Settled. As far as Bobby Brown, though, he was invited and so were his children. He may not have been the "preferred" guest compared to others, but asking him to move several times is unacceptable by any standard. He was not, maybe, the best part of her life, but he and she shared a daughter. Out of respect for Whitney and that child, there was no sense in antagonizing the man.

Regardless of the circumstances( we could try to say who made who do what) Bobby and his chlidren should not have been treated in this manner. Whitney helped to raise these children and she would have wanted Bobby and them there. How soon we forget everyone has problems and this day should have been about Whitney and what she would have wanted. She must have turned over in her casket. My sympathies to Bobby, Bobby Kristina and her siblings. May Jehovah God give you peace, the way he is giving it to Whitney right now. RIP Whitney, you will never be forgoitten.
