Mystikal, once a star on the Master P-led imprint No Limit -- a rival of the Cash Money label -- has joined Fresh on a new track by Big Easy funk and jazz jam band Galactic, according to Fresh's spokesperson Zenobia Simmons.
The song, 'Move Fast,' is the first, newly released cut that features both southern rap icons. "The track is from Galactic's latest album ['Carnivale Electricos'] and features Mystikal in all of his southern glory, with Mannie Fresh joining in on the fun," Simmons says.
But the big question is: will a collaboration between Fresh and Mystikal be heard on the 'Shake Ya Ass' star's Cash Money debut? For Cash Money/Young Money head Bryan "Birdman" Williams, he hasn't quite fully warmed up to the idea after parting ways with Fresh in 2005, over money issues.
"I don't care to work with Fresh and none of his music," Birdman told XXL last December. "That's [Mystikal's] prerogative. If that's what he wants to do, I'mma respect that. But if it's on me, I want him with all new music. No disrespect to Fresh, but we ain't on that sound. He do what he do. We do what we do."
Fresh, however has taken the high road and hopes to work with the label in the future. "Cash Money reached out to me and handled their business in a professional way," he has previously told The BoomBox. "That's all I've ever asked for. I never had a problem with Cash Money. I just had a problem with the way they did business."
'Move Fast' is featured on Galactic's new album, 'Carnivale Electricos,' in stores now.
