Mariah Carey's Sister Diagnosed With Cancer, Alison Carey Scott Also Living With HIV

Mariah Carey's estranged sister, Alison Carey Scott, has been diagnosed with cancer. Scott, a 50-year-old former drug addict who's been arrested twice for prostitution and is also HIV positive, told the National Enquirer that she is suffering from liver cancer.

A reporter from the tabloid magazine spoke with Scott outside of a hotel in Riverhead, N.Y., where she confirmed the news. She stated she was ill, "not with AIDS... liver cancer."

The "Emotions" creator, who has been in the studio recording her 14th album with Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox, reportedly is clueless about her sibling's condition. Recently, Mariah Carey has dealt with her husband Nick Cannon's own battles with a rare form of autoimmune disease lupus. News of Alison Carey Scott's liver cancer diagnosis is sure to come as a blow to the singer.

"Mariah's been to hell and back with Nick's health problems... Now Alison's tragedy will be a double whammy for her," a source told the National Enquirer.

Though Mariah Carey and her sister have had a rocky relationship since the performer stepped into the spotlight, she's supported Alison Carey Scott while undergoing treatment for her drug addiction, even paying for her visit to rehab.

To whom much is given, much is required. We will answer not only for what we "have" done BUT for what we did not do. Love has no limits and throwing money at it is not the cure, where is the love and the support both financial and emotional for Mariah's sister ?

I never knew she had a sister, so often a family member is better off then another and because of it , limits their help to others. Helping Allison also means, never giving up on her although she may have given up on herself. God is not going to ask how much money you had, but he may want to know how you helped others with it. Yights! Wellness, to each member of this family.

One sister works hard and is rewarded .The other is a prostitute, drug addict, and has been in and out of rehab on Mariah's dime. At some point a person says enough. When you work your A** off, you try to help others, but eventually it makes little sense to support people who won't help themselves.

Wow, its sad to hear about anyone having health issues and I always wish them well, but why even bring this public?

Mariah looks really old in those shades, whoa, I thought that was a picture of the sister at first.

I feel Nicks pain since Iam boarded line with lupus also but thanks be to God I only have fybromyalgia and as for her sister I hope she stays strong. By the way Mariah you and have beautiful children. God Bless...

Life is short and filled with the bitter and the sweet. If can look in the mirror and know you've done everything in your power to help those who mean such much to you, then you can be at peace with yourself and those around you. I've lived through the storm and somehow I can say the story had a positive ending. Dear Mariah, keep writing and singing music that comes from the heart and you will never walk alone

While I do feel sad for Alison, I feel sad for Mariah too. What a tough situation. Alison came out with stories about Mariah, but I read Mariah still provided her a great deal of financial support and tried to help her as much as possible. Now to receive this news. Such a sad ordeal. I hope Alison heals, and they can heal their relationship!

Mariah, tell your sister to get to N.Y.C. and there is treatment for those with Hep.C Virus and maybe her liver cancer. My sister was treated with interferon and Pegasis
and she was free of Hep. C. virus...also, my brother. God Bless your sister for all
she will have to endure with any treatment to fight the cancer.

Unfortunately most medications doesn't work with African Americans. But I have heard that a new medication that came out in May last years gives a 90% CURE. Her sister should be in NYC that's where Mariah is from......lots of prayers needed here...
