Nelly Speaks Out on Tour Bus Gun and Drug Bust

Nelly's tour bus drug and gun bust definitely surprised his fans when the news hit yesterday (Oct. 11). The rapper isn't known for having run-ins with the law, but getting caught with 36 baggies of heroin, 10 pounds of marijuana and a handgun will definitely get you more than a slap on the wrist.

Fortunately for the St. Louis, Mo., native, the illegal substances and firearm didn't belong to him. After keeping quiet about the matter for hours after he was taken into custody, he's now speaking out.

"It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning," he said in a statement to TMZ.

"Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board," he added. "Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual."

Nelly's tour bus was traveling in Sierra Blanca, Texas through a border patrol checkpoint when a police canine unit detected drugs. A further search uncovered a loaded .45 caliber pistol. Brian Keith Jones, a passenger on the tour bus, was arrested after admitting the drugs and the weapon were his.

Looks like Mr. "Hot in Herre" should give members of his team a thorough background check before hiring them.

Its stupid for all of them to go to jail. One guy takes the charges and everybody else walks. Then everybody gets this guy the best attorney and if he goes to jail he and his family are taken care of. Its the price you pay if your gonna play. Are you people new?

Some of you people sound like you live waaaaay back in the sticks. When you're in the game, it's already made clear what position you take and, what role you play.
