The Atlanta rapper, whose single "All Gold Everything" has received almost 3 million YouTube views in under two months, has been ubiquitous of late, and his signing was clearly imminent.
Trinidad was reportedly being courted by everyone from Diddy to Jimmy Iovine, but has now officially brought his Gold Gang Records to Def Jam, as confirmed to Billboard by Def Jam president Joie Manda.
"We're excited to welcome a young talent like Trinidad James to the Def Jam family," Manda said in a statement. "Trinidad James represents the cutting-edge of what's happening in the culture today. We are thrilled to have him at the label, and look forward to growing his already massive buzz."
Meanwhile Trinidad kept it breezy, saying only "Def Jam, thank you for believing."
