Diana Ross Diva Behavior: Singer Causes Commotion in Restaurant

The Supremes' singer Diana Ross continues to act supreme even though the soul group's popular reign has long passed. Last Thursday the singer was in a restaurant in Beverly Hill and threw a fit when she was told there would be a wait, reports the New York Post.

Ross arrived ahead of her daughter at the Italian eatery La Scala and was told that since she didn't have a reservation, she would not be seated until her party was complete. The diva threw a fit and sat herself in a booth anyway.

Management came to her table and informed Ross that if she cut the line for a table she would not be served. Ross refused to move. Once her daughter arrived a scene erupted, ending in both women leaving the restaurant in a huff.

The Post spoke with La Scala owner Gigi Leon who said:

"I'm sorry that Miss Ross had a problem with that and she feels that the rules didn't apply to her. Our policy is that we don't sit incomplete parties. If people jump the line, our policy is we don't serve them, and she was told that.

"We treat everyone the same whether you're famous or not. We love having her as a customer. We'd be happy to have her back."

A rep for Ross had no comment for The Post on the incident.

Diana rules the universe. They should have bowed their heads to her.

A superstar such as Diana Ross requires the same respect as the Pope, President of the United States or Michael Jackson because of crowd control and security reasons. Celebrities and Public Figures are not liked by all people....Me personally, If I was a celebrity, I don\'t know if I would trust for someone in a restaurant (regardless of the scale) to prepare and bring me food. I guess I have trust issues. I would like to believe that most people are good. I know that I am. I will always be a fan of Diana Ross and will Forever Love Her.........

I've read some of these comments. What I see here is a lot of mean-spirited people. Many of you have never met Miss Ross, and are only repeating second hand information, from someone that have had problems with Miss Ross...Personal vindictive people. Personally, this incident is not news worthy. However, since the people at La Scala, promoted this incident to garner some cheap publicity at the expense of Miss Ross, let me say this; Miss Ross should have been seated. She was part of a party of two. Many of you simply do not understand, that the seating arragements for a party of two, is the same as a party of one. This establishment forgot the first thing about providing good customer service. Why subject someone as legendary as Miss Ross, to waiting in line, while other customers coming to the resturant, could bother her. The management should have not only seated her, but offered her a complimentary beverage, while she waited for her daughter. Many of use simply do not understand how good customer service is more important than bad publicity. Many of you are taking cheap shots at Miss Ross, when all you are reading is one side of this incident. Remember, there is always two sides to any situation. Miss Ross place in history is secured. She is well respected all over the world. I would suggest many of you should simply respect her for all the joy she has brought to many people all over the world....She has earned it...

The only reason you are saying this is because you and her are both ni-qq-ers.

She's an old school diva who thought she could just walk into a restaurant and just be seated and served. A 'new school diva' would have at least had the decency to call!

The one and only Miss Diana Ross. The Legend. The star with name recognition for over 49 years and who can still draw international headlines by some ridicules restaurant incident and cause over 1,155 (and counting) people/morons to take the time of day and post a response, good or bad. That is the sign of a Legend, unforgettable. Did anyone consider it may have had something to do with a broken ankle she's recovering from and she didn't want to continue standing causing further injury? I am aware that Miss Ross performed for the President and other Washington dignitaries at the annual "Christmas at Washington" telecast for TNT three weeks ago, and I witnessed her hobble out to center stage with a cast on her leg and perform a beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace" which brought the house to its feet. While staying committed to that engagement, when just three weeks earlier she broke her ankle after she performed a concert over in India. Now just six or seven weeks after she broke her ankle this restaurant incident occurs.

In the above article it does not state that Diana Ross cut in front of people already in line and took a seat. It merely states that after being informed of the house rules, she took a seat anyway and waited for her daughter to arrive. Now, why do you think she took a seat after being told not to and just seven weeks after breaking an ankle? Diana Ross may not consider herself as a senior citizen (she doesn't look it) but she is. She will be 69 years old come March 26, 2013 and as we age broken bones do not mend as fast or as well as they would have had we been a lot younger. I would have done the same thing with no apologies.

Waiting for the complete party to be present is common at many restaurants. Those who are posting comments questioning this policy must only dine at places like McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell....
