Beyonce Lip Sync Confirmed, Inaugural Official: 'She Did Not Sing Live'

Beyonce did lip sync the National Anthem, according to an Inauguration official who spoke to CNN.

"She did not sing live," said the official, who refused to reveal their identity. A prerecorded version of the "Star Spangled Banner" was played instead, and that's what people heard.

According to the official, the decision was made by Beyonce herself, and might have been informed by her late arrival on Sunday, which didn't allot her enough time to rehearse with the U.S. Marine Band.

"Because she didn't have time to rehearse with the Marine Band, she decided to use her recording with the Marine Band," said the official. "It was all Beyonce."

As for the rendition that people did hear, it was a combination of her prerecorded vocals with the U.S. Marine Band filling in live.

"She's actually a very good live singer," the official added, and said they were "puzzled" as to why she decided to lip sync when it was clear from the prerecorded version that she could effortlessly nail the performance.

Bey's been mum on the subject thus far and despite the public outcry has refused to release a statement. That may come any minute now, though. Stay tuned.

i have said n wrote so what it was her voice n she made the back up recording. get off of it her live voice whene she recorded ENOUGH ALREADY SHE GAVE A GREAT PREFORMANCE.

Not sure what a preformance is and she has in her career given great performances, but her pantomime at the inauguration on 1 21 13 not great. Enough already with the CAP LOCK

As far as lip synching goes, you still sing to make it look believable if she just moved her lips we would have known. But, people say that if she had messed up without the lip synching it would've not been a big deal and that is a LIE,! The American public just wants a reason to tear people down. This is the first time she has done this so stop being jerks and let it go. She just didn't want to let our judgmental public down. People make me sick

how do you know it is the first time, it is done on tpour in big venues a lot ,to save wear and tear on the voice, and whats wrong with being human,! major talents should be secure enough, to rise to the challenge

Wow!!! The news will do anything to get the people's ear!!! I am so disappointed in this story. I must say that I was there and that girl was singing. I'm not surprised that that the so called official who said she was lip syncing didn't want to identify themselves...... because there isn't one. When you watch the video you can see Beyonce's throat is moving, that's because SHE'S SINGING!! I guess Kelly Clarkston and James Taylor were lip syncing too, but oops I wouldn't know that either...........being at the inauguration doesn't mean anything right.? And by the way it 50 degrees and very nice out....so the story about it being cold isn't going to work either. Did you Beyonce wearing a coat while she sang...? REALLY!!!

When you lip sync, properly! the artist sings with the track, THE ENGINER JUST TURNS OF THE MIKE < AS TO NOT IMPOSE ON THE PRERECORD< WHEN THE SONG IS FINISHED THE MIKE IS RETURNED TO LIVE< creating the illusion

You do not lip-sync the National Anthem, this is a song to be sung from the heart and with pride and honor for ur Country. She knew she was going to sing so she should of been practicing anyways, If she messed up (which I dought) at least it would of be honest - and from the heart , but now it is just a Lie,, I do care - I have American Pride

Pot, meet kettle. There are nearly a dozen grammatical and spelling errors in the post to which you originally replied. But perhaps more importantly, there are a number of egregious errors in your post as well. Seems a little hypocritical, doesn't it?

She lip synched to her own voice, it happens all the time probably more than we the gullible public want to know. At first I thought so what. But the reason given she arrived too late to do the work to practice with the marine band why b/c she is so special she doesn't have to prepare to perform in front of millions? But yet stood on stage giving the acting performance of her life, looking up to the sky, ripping out her ear phone, smiling outstretching her arms pretending the song and occasion meant something to her, yet it was just a photo op for the super bowl half time lip synched show perhaps? Starting to wonder what else is an illusion about her hmmm. Use to like her but now well bey bey maybe they can come up with a new academy award category just for you, award for best performance at imitating a real iife..Another fluffed up entertainer bites the dust.

I am not jealous of beyonce why would I be? She is a beautiful entertainer with talents I am not or do not have anything she has I know her world is different from mine, I know that quite well. What I am is a working person and I know that any piece of work needs proper preparation. She was late so late she couldn't practice with "the band" the rest is history now. You box get a little worked up over a silly comment to a silly article to what is now a silly act on beyonce's part. Cap lock really.
