Ethiopian Nights album, out of sight and sign of his musical genuious. He left huge footprints here in Detroit, his place of birth and all over the music world. We thank you so much for the hours of sitting around the music box and grooving to your sound.

A great trumpet with good imagination. Played with GiGi Gryce quite a bit during the era. I had no idea he was 80 but then, Maynard was older than I thought when he died too. Anyway, Donald played with many groups and was always a distinctive horn. Bless him and RIP...

This is so sad. Mr Byrd was one of the great jazz musicians of his era. In the 70's he had so many good songs on Spaces and Places and Stepping Into Tomorrow, timeless pieces of fabulous music. Rest in Peace Donald and thanks for giving us so much pleasure through the years!
