Wale, Kelly Clarkson and Miguel: D.C. Rapper Takes Offense to Singer's Grammy Comments

Wale took offense to Kelly Clarkson's comments about Miguel at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

"I didn't like the Kelly Clarkson back-handed comments to Miguel," the D.C.-bred rapper told MTV News. "I just feel like our urban music is belittled, a little bit."

Kelly Clarkson took home the award for Best Pop Vocal album with her LP Stronger, but when she went up to accept her trophy, she offered what could have been perceived as slight to Miguel, who'd just performed "Adorn" with Wiz Khalifa.

"Miguel, I don't know who the hell you are," she said. "But we need to sing together. I mean, good God, that was the sexiest damn thing I've ever seen."

It wasn't so much the comment but what it signified that angered Wale. And the performance itself -- a short one -- got to him.

"Not trying to offend nobody on the committee, but for a record as big as 'Adorn,' and it to not be presented as a real performance onstage; it was almost like a segue to an award," he explained. "Again, I don't want to offend anybody on the committee, but that wasn't a very good representation of our music because 'Adorn' is gonna be around for the next 30 years."

Kelly,is one of the best vocalist on the planet. I watched the comment in question and clearly she was giving a heart felt "COMPLIMENT" . Dude get over yourself. I,
"Like many other people" didn't know who you were either until your performance.
You may have a beef about where you were placed and how you had to perform but , that's not Kellys' doing. Take the compliment, and if you're smart you'll take the invitation to do something together. Don't be hypersensitive

He is as dumb as a brick wall. She said she thinks you are so good that she wants to sing with you.

Kelly didn't say anything bad about him. He is blowing it all out of proportion as an opportunity to get his name back in the spotlight.

It was obvious to me that her statement was intended as a compliment and should have been accepted as such. With the attitude he displayed (when gratitude was in order) we'll have to see how that 30 year thing goes.
