It's called "News For You" and it's the most random and weirdest collaboration we've ever heard.
We imagine Mr. Benet was sitting around his home studio one day thinking, "Gee, I have to really get back on the map. What can I do?"
His management, who were sitting on a black couch across from the mixing board, calmly suggest, "Maybe you should get a rapper on one of your songs?"
"But who?" Benet asks.
*Management scratches its head* "Who's hot right now?"
"2 Chainz," Benet replies.
And there it is. Surprisingly, the song is pretty good.
It's presumably a remix, because another version of "News For You" -- same lyrics, different beat -- was the fourth single from The One, Benet's sixth studio LP, released last July.
This new version rides a sample of Lenny Kravitz's "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" right to the bank.
The 2 Chainz addition sounds weird and we probably could have done without it, but would we be talking about it otherwise? Probably not. So the plan worked.
