Quincy Jones Wants His Vibe Back

After revelations that Vibe magazine is shutting their doors, Vibe founder Quincy Jones has spoken out. In a brief interview with Ebonyjet.com, Jones stated "I'm trying to buy my magazine back now. They just messed my magazine all up, but I'm gonna get it back. You better believe it, I'm'a take it online because print and all that stuff is over."

Which means he wants to pump a ton of money into resurrecting the magazine solely online, a move that a handful of publications in many genres have struggled with over the last several years. Jones compared the world of publishing much to something he intimately knows: the music business.

Remy Ma Pens Letter From Prison

Remy Ma is speaking out about life in prison. The Bronx native, who was sentenced to eight years behind bars after shooting her former friend in the stomach, is serving her time at New York's Bedford Correctional Facility. "I always find myself thinking about what I was doing a year ago, two years ago, five years ago today," she wrote. "I never remember exactly where 'til I find myself imagining where I would be today."

Born Remy Smith, the 28-year-old rapper, began her sentence last summer. Among the many things that remind her of her current status is listening to the radio. "I rarely listen to the radio because it's sort of depressing. Not being able to record is stressful not because I'm a rapper but because that was my way of venting and expressing myself. " Smith jokes that she was used to sending her rhymes via text message, stating that she writes so much that she has a callous on her finger.

Scott Storch's Manager Explains How Producer Lost $30M

At one point, producer Scott Storch was a ubiquitous figure in hip hop. Then, after producing some of the biggest hits in 2006, working with every major artist from 50 Cent to Beyonce to Pink, the Canadian-born beat maker's career took a serious nose dive.

One of the highest paid people in music in 2007, by 2008 Storch was unable to pay $500,000 in back taxes and a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to make child-support payments.

In a recent interview with MTV, Storch's manager Derek Jackson explained his meteoric rise and fall, describing it as "Unlike anything I've ever seen in my entire life...Historical! It was historical without question."

The cause for Storch's problems was cocaine. "Honestly, about three years ago, he got really shady," Jackson continued. "And that's the best term I could use. He went from what his normal vices were to suddenly becoming a person who was infatuated with the drug, and I saw it constantly."

The Beastie Boys Announce New Album Via E-Mail

The Beastie Boys have announced the title of their new album, 'Hot Sauce Committee,' in a recent email to their fans.

While the album's release date has yet to be announced, the Beasties have confirmed that it will feature an appearance by recently-renamed singer Santigold, which we're looking forward to hearing. 'Hot Sauce Committee' will be the group's first album since their 2007 instrumental record 'The Mix-Up.'

"It's a lot of vocals, a lot of words -- very wordy," rapper Ad-Rock said of the new album, in an interview with Billboard. "And it's political, depending on what you call political. You know, if toilet talk and fart jokes are political, which they can be, in that sense yeah, very."

Chris Brown Talks New Album, Says He's 'Not A Monster'

R&B singer Chris Brown spoke out publicly for the first time, in a longtime, to let fans and "haters" know how he's doing. The 20-year-old took to Bow Wow's video blog to briefly set the record straight on what's he's been up to.

Redman and Method Man Return a Decade Later With 'Nostalgic' Album

While many consider Redman and Method Man to be rap's Cheech and Chong, based upon their penchant for marijuana usage and hilarious antics, the duo are best known for having one of the most energetic live shows around. Though their platinum-selling collaboration album 'Blackout!,' dropped exactly 10 years ago yesterday, Red and Meth haven't lost a step. 'Blackout! 2' is one of the best albums of the year, so far, with appearances by Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Bun B and Keith Murray, and production by Pete Rock, Havoc, Buckwild, Erick Sermon and Rockwilder.

The BoomBox: How does 'Blackout! 2' differ from the first one?

Red: We've got more producers than we did on the first album. Besides Erick Sermon and Rockwilder, we got new producers, and we got a feel for the 90's, as well. It don't sound like the first album, but still has the same feel. We still got samples, which not too many people are doing this go 'round, 'cause they don't wanna pay. I think you gonna like it. Long story short.
