David Banner Tells the 'Greatest Story' in Our Studio

David Banner turned into the incredible hulk in our Los Angeles studio and ran through each performance with unrivaled energy. "If ya'll wonder after ya'll saw this AOL show why David Banner ain't on no tour, I'm not on no tour 'cause the headliner always get mad cause he know I'm better than he is, and I look better. Look at me! I'm ravishing. I'm way past dashing now," the rapper jokes.

After his high voltage performances, the often underrated southern rapper sat down and discussed his hometown, hurricane Katrina and his upcoming album, due in stores July 15, which he assures is 'The Greatest Story Ever Told.'

"I did this album like a mountain. My mentor said even if your album is up here and it stays at the top, it's still going to be boring to people. You have to have peaks and valleys." Not only does Banner's new project have "peaks and valleys," but the album also has a slew of superstar collaborations, including guest spots by Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, Akon and Lil Wayne.

David Banner Shouts Out Sean Bell in Exclusive Freestyle Segment

"Freestyle when I was coming up meant ... words straight off the dome, unprepared, not written," David Banner explained before launching into an a capella freestyle in our Los Angeles studio. "Now it just depends on what situation I'm in." The Mississippi-bred emcee stepped up to the microphone, plugged his upcoming album, 'The Greatest Story Ever Told,' which hits shelves July 15, and gave a R.I.P. shout out to Sean Bell in the middle of his flow.

The rapper also expressed that his new album is chock full of his best work even though the delivery of the tracks are slightly different then past projects. "I did this album like a mountain. Rick Ross, David Banner to Hit the Big Screen in 'Days of Wrath'

Rick Ross, David Banner and Slim Thug are set to appear in the upcoming drama 'Days of Wrath,' alongside Academy-award nominated actor Laurence Fishburne, Taye Diggs, Wilmer Valderrama (That '70s Show) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (P.S. I Love You).

The urban thriller tells the story of two Los Angeles gangs, a callous television producer and the innocent bystanders involved in this tangled tale of gang violence.

Laurence Fishburne plays a teacher/mentor who acts as the voice of reason for the young, warring gang members. Valderrama shows some range and takes on the role of the ruthless thug, who sets off the string of violence events. Ross, Banner and Slim appear as members of one of the rival gangs.

KRS-One Relaunches the Stop the Violence Movement

Chamillionaire, David Banner, Nelly and the Game joined KRS-One at the Los Angeles Recording School from February 7-9 to lay down a track as part of the rap legend's relaunch of his Stop the Violence Movement.

KRS-One -- aka the Teacha -- and Boogie Down Productions were the forces behind hip-hop's 1989 anti-violence movement, which produced the song 'Self Destruction,' featuring Public Enemy's Chuck D, MC Lyte, Kool Moe Dee and D-Nice.

According to XXLmag.com, the legendary emcee has also lined up future collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Lil Mama.

Ice Cube, David Banner to Star in 'The Comeback'



The West Coast meets Mississippi's finest when Ice Cube and David Banner join forces in the upcoming movie 'The Comeback.' The film, which is being produced by Cube's Cubevision Productions and directed by Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, is based on the true story of Jasmine Plummer, the first female quarterback in Pop Warner Conference football history.

Actress Keke Palmer of 'Akeelah and the Bee' fame will star as Plummer. Cube will play a former high school football star who helps his niece, Plummer, lead her team to the national tournament. Banner is set to appear in a supporting role.

Banner, who's reportedly been taking acting classes to hone his skills, is also working on releasing his long-awaited fourth album, 'The Greatest Story Ever Told,' due later this year.

David Banner Tells His 'Story' With Akon, Snoop

David Banner isn't lacking ambition. Banner, who appeared in 'Black Snake Moan' and an episode of the hit USA series 'Monk,' is furthering is acting career with roles in the upcoming 'This Christmas,' with Chris Brown, and 'Days of Wrath.' This is in addition to his work as a producer on his Cartoon Network show, 'That Crook'd 'Sipp.'

Fans of Banner's music, however, need not fret. Banner returns with his forthcoming album, 'Greatest Story Ever Told,' which features collaborations with Akon, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg, among others. '"I'm looking forward to putting an album out before the end of the year," he says. "We're just getting geared up."

Those outside interests have been a boon to the music he believes. "It's the force of the music that's allowing me to push my sense of creativity a little bit more," he says. "With rappers, a lot of time we don't really have the opportunity to really push the lines of music because we gotta sell. I'm making so much money in other places I can afford to be a little bit more creative."
