This year's BET awards honored stars like Beyonce, Keri Hilson, and Lil Wayne with top awards during the ceremony. Hosted by actor/singer Jamie Foxx, the three-hour plus show was themed around the life and legacy of pop icon Michael Jackson, while mixing in a slew of performances from some of music's biggest stars.

Beyonce, dazzled the audience with an angelic performance of her songs 'Ave Maria' and 'Brokenhearted Girl.' Dressed in all white, the 27-year-old belted out her hits before taking home the 'Best Female Artist' and Video of the Year' awards. Her better half, Jay-Z took to the stage to perform his current single 'D.O.A.' (Death of the Autotune).

The remix to singer/songwriter's Keri Hilson's hit 'Turnin' Me On' may have revealed a secret beef with Beyonce. Rumors have been swirling about just who the Atlanta native was rhyming about on the reworked track.

"Your vision cloudy if you think that you da best/You can dance/she can sing/but need to move it to the left," Hilson rhymes, making reference to Beyonce's hit single 'Irreplaceable.' "She need to go have some babies/she need to sit down she fake/them other chicks ain't even worth talkin' bout."

Hilson goes on to possibly call out Ciara, who she has written songs for in the past. "Go head tell these folks how long I been writing your songs/I been putting you on/check the credits hoe!...If you want me you can find me in Decatur hoe."

Will.I.Am, T-Pain, Keri Hilson and Makeeba Riddick flexed their songwriting muscles as panelists for BMI's annual 'How I Wrote That' event Saturday in Los Angeles. Held at the Key Club, fans and aspiring musicians were given the opportunity to learn from some of the best.

Black Eyed Peas front man Will.I.Am, talked about how he penned the song 'Fergalicious' for pop-diva and group member Fergie. Following the popularity of 'My Humps' Will wanted to write something simple yet catchy. The song, which samples J.J. Fad's 1988 hit 'Supersonic' was a song Will grew up hearing.

"That song (the sample) represents my childhood," he said recalling how the ice cream man would blast it in his East L.A. neighborhood. Once the music side was on lock Will thought of "dumb stuff" to write for the lyrics. The single quickly hit the top spot on Billboards Pop 100 charts for fourteen weeks.

Keri Hilson's debut album, 'In a Perfect World,' may be about to drop March 24, setting up the breakout songwriter to be a recording star in her own right. But despite having Lil Wayne on the single and a track she co-wrote with Justin Timberlake her family still isn't impressed yet.

"I'm the black sheep of my family," she told a crowd of students at Grammy Career Day. "I'm the only one who didn't graduate."

But talking to the Boombox at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party, a few days after Grammy Career Day, Hilson made a public plea to Emory University.

"My degree was a theater degree, performance based, so I'm gonna go for the honorary if I can," she said. "I've been talking to the dean of the art school and Emory University, if you're reading this, I would love to get the honorary degree. I gotta get that piece of paper."
