Lil Wayne Pleads Not Guilty to Arizona Drug Charges

Lil Wayne appeared in a Arizona court yesterday and entered a not guilty plea on charges of multiple drug possession charges -- three being felonies -- and a misconduct involving weapons charge.

The rap star, whose real name is Dwayne Carter,
was arrested in Yuma, Arizona, on January 22 after his tour bus was searched at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint and agents allegedly discovered marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and a .40-caliber pistol.

This isn't the rapper's first run in with the law. Carter was arrested in Boise, Idaho, in October 2007 for possession of drugs. Carter is due back in court on May 19.

Based on a true story, 'Patriots,' will tell the story of high school basketball coach Al Collins, who takes his team of displaced students from various city schools to a state championship.

Lil Wayne Talks About Addiction to Syrup

In a recent interview with MTV, Lil Wayne opened up about his love for the drug cocktail syrup despite knowledge that the drink caused Pimp C's surprising death. Unfortunately, Weezy hasn't learned from Pimp C's accidental overdose. The rapper continues to perform with a Styrofoam cup of pink or red juice, and he seems to be a bit frustrated with people around him who think he should leave the cocktail alone.

"Let me do me. Everybody's got their thing," the rapper told MTV. "Do your history, do your research. It ain't that easy -- feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that s---. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox."

In other Lil Wayne news, the rapper appeared at an arraignment hearing in New York on Monday and pleaded not guilty to gun charges. Wayne was arrested following a performance at New York's Beacon Theater in July 2007, when police discovered a handgun hidden in his tour bus. If convicted, the rapper could face up to three years in prison.

"In the midst of this crisis where HIV and AIDS is the No. 1 killer where our race of people is concerned, I salute Lil Wayne as an authority figure for taking a stand to inform our people to use Strapped Condoms and to 'Stay Strapped for Life'," J-Prince said in a statement.

Hot Boys Reunion Shut Down Due to Shooting at Venue

The Hot Boys -- rappers Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile and Turk, who was to be replaced by Mannie Fresh -- were all set to reunite in their hometown when shots were fired outside the popular New Orleans nightclub, Dream, forcing the venue to close its doors early Monday morning.

According to police, two women and one man were shot outside the club at around 1 a.m. All three victims were taken to a local hospital and are expected to recover.

None of the Hot Boys were present at the time of the shooting. Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Baby and several NBA players were expected to attend the event, which would've wrapped up this year's NBA All-Star Weekend.

Lil Wayne Indicted on Drug Charges; Juvenile Busted for Pot

Looks like Lil Wayne is in big trouble, again. The rapper was indicted on felony drug and weapons charges on Friday. Wayne -- commonly known as one of the hardest working emcees -- was arrested in Yuma, Arizona, on January 22 after his tour bus was searched at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint and agents allegedly discovered marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and a .40-caliber pistol.

The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was charged with one count each of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Carter pleaded not guilty to the laundry list of charges. He's due back in court on March 7.

In the meantime, the 25-year-old rapper is set to return to his hometown of New Orleans to perform with Juvenile and B.G. -- formerly known as the Hot Boys -- for the first time in seven years as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities on Sunday. But if birds of a feather indeed flock together, that would explain Juvenile's latest legal woes.

The New Orleans-bred rapper -- born Terius Grey -- was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Mississippi on Tuesday. Grey was pulled over while driving with an expired tag on Interstate 20 in Meridian, Mississippi. Officials searched the rapper's vehicle and "a small amount of marijuana was seized," according to Lauderdale County Sheriff William Sollie.

Lil Wayne Arrested in Arizona

Looks like Lil Wayne has gotten himself into more trouble. The rapper -- commonly known as one of the hardest working emcees -- was arrested near Yuma, Arizona, for three drug-related felony counts.

The Drug Enforcement Agency was reportedly called and Wayne was subsequently taken into police custody. Wayne was arrested in Boise, Idaho, in October 2007 for possession of drugs.

Those outside interests have been a boon to the music he believes. "It's the force of the music that's allowing me to push my sense of creativity a little bit more," he says. "With rappers, a lot of time we don't really have the opportunity to really push the lines of music because we gotta sell.
